Canon Pixma MG5600 Reviews– The Canon Pixma MG5600 makes with a single 100-sheet input tray. The paper takes a U-shaped trajectory, coming out through a short shelf that only supports the part closest to the printer; The front edge is picked up by a stopper extending from the front of the input tray. It’s a bit basic, but it keeps the page printed.
This printer takes five separate ink tanks, a large black pigment source used for plain paper printing only, and dye-based black, cyan, magenta and yellow inks for graphics. The tanks are inserted under the hinged Control Panel. We found it easier than in previous models to align them for insertion, although we were surprised to find that it is possible to put the dye tanks in the wrong slots.
We have complained in the past about the control system used in this MFP, which combines a four-way navigation and a OK button with three dedicated selection buttons placed under the screen. In use, it is incoherent and can be demanding and confusing. Canon has added a new cassette configuration where you specify the paper you are loading, but its only perceptible purpose is to annoy you with an error message when you are trying to print photos. You can turn it off.
Fortunately, that is the bad news out of the way, since the Canon Pixma MG5600 is otherwise difficult to blame. It’s fast enough when it prints, delivering a first mono page in just nine seconds and going to reach 11.9 pages per minute (ppm) in our text test. At 3.7 ppm, color printing was acceptablely fast, although 6x4in photographic prints took more than two minutes each on the highest printing quality. Mono A4 copies took only 12 seconds, and color 25 seconds, while scans were fast up to 600 dots per inch (DPI).
